Had a direct email from hezeklahw333@gmail,com
bypassed my post looking for a T84 part. Was quick to offer price
stopped communicating when I asked for photos and where the part was shipping from
couldn't find an user with that name here
No member here using that email address. Did they use any name? Forward me the email?

I had an email response for a WTB for a transfer casing from a Jude Yo yojude96@gmail.com. His price including shipping to the UK seemed too good to be true and he couldn’t send pictures, Bill has just confirmed that he is a Scammer and has been banned.

Here's another one for you. I am ashamed to admit that I was taken in so easily.

I received an unsolicited PM from member jackowa with a lead on a radio. He provided the email address for M Cappello, spy3der@outlook.com. I contacted M Capello who provided numerous photos and asked a reasonable price. I bit, hook line and sinker. I paid by Zelle to his 'wife' at cindystennis7@gmail.com and still wait. :-(

Hello Bill,
Can you tell me how I can change my logon password? When I log on I get a message that my password was found in a security breech. I would like to update to a stronger password.
Thanks,
Keith

Hi all. Beware of this guy named Simone Cowell: simonecowell238@gmail.com. He emailed me that he had a Bendix for sale. We agreed on $60 shipped. I sent him payment through pay pal F&F. Well i never got it. I emailed him and he said the post office put a hold on it and needed $25 more to deliver it. i said that wasn't what we agreed on and to send me back my money. He hasn't responded nor have i gotten my money back. I can't believe that there are people out there going through g503 want ads, doing a little research on what the part is and how much it costs and scamming us members. Be very careful everyone!

It seems to be all too common these days.

A new user passed all the checked, and started directly emailing users here that had WTB adds. Claimed to be a different user here. One we know. one that's been here for a long time.
Showed photos of item from another website. When called out on that, he
claimed to be the author of the website.
But we know the author of that website too.

the email address the scammer used was
lehmanidinla@gmail.com
Claims his name is Lehman
this email address was linked to a new user with 0 posts named "snowthug"

I won't mention the names and usernames of the good folks whose reputation he just tried to tarnish.

A quick google search of the email reveals he has tried this scam on a lot of forums.

Look, we can only do so much to protect you. and everything we do to protect you is met with resistance and claims of tyranny and the revocation of rights. We aren't trying to make things more difficult on you. But then, we are making things more difficult. it sucks. But it's the world we live in.
And in the end, the scammers still get through. and they still scam some of you.

YOU have to be more cautious. They know you are wary of new users now. so they email you and pretend to be a long-time user.
If they are a long time user, tell them to PM you here, to verify.
tell them to take a new photo just for you with the time and date on a sticky note in the photo.
Read the signs.

yes, I know you really really want that part for that amazing price, but don't let that "too good to be true" deal affect your judgement.

Hi Chris,
But then, we are making things more difficult. it sucks. But it's the world we live in.
And in the end, the scammers still get through. and they still scam some of you.

YOU have to be more cautious.
I totally agree with you: users have to be more CAUTIOUS.
Other than that, nobody, even the administrators, can automate scamming prevention.
But since things have recently been made more complicated, I can no longer remain connected under Safari in the iPad.
Each time I want to return to the G503 forum, I need to login, again and again.
It really sucks!
For some reason, it’s impossible to tick the option to remain connected while using the face id to login.
And manually entering the user id and pw sucks much more.
And bottom line, it does not help to prevent scamming.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your information.
How can you tick the option « Remember me » prior to login with Face ID,
As soon as I tick that option, the Face ID login option at the bottom of the screen disappears.
I can only use the «remember me” option by entering the credentials manually.

iPad Pro 12.9 inch 4th gen iPadOS 17.6.1

I think I see what you mean Yves.
at the bottom of the screen it says "Sign in to g503.com with your saved password?"
if I click the button 'Use "Chris Fourroux"' it does face ID , on success it populates the username and password fields and logs in.
But if I click on "Remember Me" ,the bottom buttons clear off the screen. I think that's because a username and password field is no longer in focus.
if I click on either the Username or password field , I not only get a keyboard at the bottom of the screen I also see
an icon of a Key. when I click on that I can pick one from a list. and I'm back to face ID.
and it logs me in.

once I log in one time with "remember me" I pretty much don't have to log in again. even if I crash out of safari.
that's because the "remember me" sets a cookie on the browser.
we have seen in the past cookies sometimes get messed up. that's why there is a "Delete Cookies" button at the bottom of the web page.
you might try that.
