Fender light modification?

Post by mattymajors » Tue Nov 26, 2019 9:16 pm

So, I’m pulling parts out of boxes I stumbled upon this summer and I came up on these. The frames look close to fender lights (MB/M38/M38A1) as far as I can tell, but S&M 711 driving lamps did not come on a Jeep.

Interesting lights, perhaps MP Jeep.
I’ve seen many different light combinations on WLA’s including clear and red lenses.

If you can determine the voltage, that might narrow it down. The Studebaker Weasel had a single headlight. They came up with a brushguard to protect it, but earlier versions or field mods may have just used the blackout light guard and a clear headlight. Also, staff cars or vehicles converted to field ambulances might have added a red light for emergency use.

It’s an odd bulb shape and no markings, not something I’ve seen before and I believe 12v’s. We ran it on my wife’s 2A (rough mounted) in the local Christmas parade. Not sure a 6v would have put up with that. Image
