Re: anyone identify this bus?

the above photos of the bus are provided by Rory Burke & his new bus find in Alaska, any info on this vehicle would be appreciated.

Hi mfrance:
Its a 1951 Fageol F32F Twin Coach Convertible bus built for evacuation from nuclear attacks (convertible into an ambulance). Bus was built by Twin Coach Company of Kent, Ohio. Engine was a 172 HP horizontal in-line six cylinder Fageol FTC 210-21 mounted on the right side amidships under the floor. Bus wheelbase is 222 inches. It has rear "barn" doors that swing wide open, making this bus a great candidate for a olive drab camper & collectible hauler to local MV events. Long distance travel may be more trying.
All my data came from Fred W. Crismon's excellent 1983 book "U.S.Military Wheeled Vehicles."

It's a Fageol Twin Coach. The driver's side windshield has been "modified" by Bubba. Probably dates to the early/mid-fifties. Make a nice motor home for somebody!
I see Fred beat me to it by three minutes!

Now THAT's a chainsaw... must be at least a 30" bar on the saw that gentleman is holding.

That would make a great hippie wagon. Then sell it to a Dead Head for big bucks, or trade

Re: anyone identify this bus?
These were a familiar sight at Army posts of the 50s-60s, I have a lot of hours being hauled to training fields in these and have fond memories of a platoon getting out to push one up a hill just after crossing a pontoon bridge over the Chatahoochie as it was skipping so bad it had no power.
The 6 cyl engine was installed on its side at mid point of the bus.
A lot of these ended up in gov't surplus dealers fields as storage vans.
