Hotchkiss Carb
I am looking to replace my friends Hotchkiss carb as it never seems to run right. Is there more than one model of Solex carb to buy for these Jeeps. Whiat is the correct model? Thanks, John Ayres

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
John,
The carb shown in the manual is Solex M32PBIC, I'm not sure if any others were used but I've never seen another Solex reference mentioned.
All the best

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
Believe the E type Jaguar used a Solex Carb, the chap I bought my Jeep off mentioned he had rebuilt mine using spares from Jaguar.

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
Talk to Ron, he has NOS solex carbs and they are pretty reasonably priced as well. I have heard they are a plug and play item on a Hotchkiss. I bought a couple about a year ago as a "justin case" purchase.

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
Thanks to all for your help. I really just want to put one on and get a Jeep running rather than get an origianl as the GP guys use these all the time. I kind of like the Hotchkiss as a lot of things are cool on them! Joihn Ayres

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
The ones off an E type Jaguar are side draught and not suitable for a Jeep although some parts may be interchangeable with the down draught, I'm not sure. Do a search someone was trying to sell a near new one recently that they no longer wanted.

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
Fred - which manual is that I've got an MB with a Solex carb and other than a general Solex carb destruction leaflet I have no other information. Unsurprisingly my jeep manuals cover the Carter. The carb shown in the manual is Solex M32PBIC,

Re: Hotchkiss Carb
Jon,
The manual was produced by the French military and is shown on Andy Carter's M201 site
http://www.m201.com/tech.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There were drawings of the M32PBIC linked on the page but they don't show now. If you're interested I have a copy (two pages as .gif files) of the guide to the carb which can be emailed, sadly I don't have a copy of the manual.
All the best
