I had a feeling they'd eventually put out a "mass market" version of the Jeep as they had all that tooling and only made a few hundred for a special event last year.
I was talking to a 1/6 scale figure dealer just yesterday on this. Dragon has made no intent with any vendors or distributors to sell the Jeep in a mass market at this time. When you think of how much they put into the tooling and molds, that seems really strange.
Besides, it'd be around $300 or more, and I can't say I could justify that much for something like that. I'd rather put it into original 1/1 scale WW2 stuff!

Yeah, those are all the ones sold at the Dragon expo in 08, you could only buy one there. Plenty of folks bought extras and are selling them now. MY understanding is that they made less than 1000 of them.Ben Dover wrote:Did a google on 1/6 Dragon Jeep and found some information. Saw some offered at $300.00.

I'm keeping an eye out for this as well. I read on the web somewhere that Dragon have released a kit version of their 1/6 Kubelwagen or Schwimmwagen at a much lower price, so I am hoping that they will do the same with the Willys.
In the meantime, I working on 1/35 Tamiya Willys using my 1:1 '43 Willys as a reference!

Just noticed this while trawling through ePay, buy now & get it in a month.

I think the asking price will fall when it hits the market proper.

Re: 1/6th Jeep
Don't bet on it. I ran this by the local vendors and they have heard it will probably be more than than $300 (US) sticker price for the special one this past year...hell-fire wrote:I think the asking price will fall when it hits the market proper.

That looks like a motorpool jeep! Have you noticed the two differently shaped reflectors?

I will buy one. Then I will turn it into RC. It has been a long dream of mine to have a scale RC model of my geep. Robert and I discussed this many years ago. Back then it was using Tamiys Bruiser running gear for the axles. Today there are many viable axle alternatives and with the new trend in Scale 4X4 and rock crawlers there anre many axle and tranny even transfercases offered to turn this into a very scale RC jeep. In the rc Hobby I have spent alot to build a 1/6 stuart Tank, Restore a Tamiys Bruiser, and am currently building a scale 4X4 2007 jeep rubicon unlimited which is alot of fun for camping. this will even more so. especially when fully outfitted with kit and a 1/6 bantam trailer.

Pat,
You are right. This jeep is a serious candidate to convert into RC.
We discussed this already some years ago.
Because now more scale gearboxes and tranfercases are available the choise is better then a couple of years ago
I started building one, but due my busy work of making my dataplates this project came into a stop.
Still I would like to finish this one.
I already made an aluminium machined frame and many frame parts casted in brass.
Also a homemade axle, casted in brass. I still have to make it working, but all the important parts are there.
Now it is to find the time to continue this project.
The Dragon jeep is a very good start to go from again.
The body on the pictures is the SOTW jeep.
So I will wait for the moment when the Dragon Jeep is on the market.
When I continue my project, I will post some more pictures.
