Based on what I've seen at different events, all you need to do is paint the rims and spokes OD. Also, you may want to paint the lower rear fender a flat white, about 4 inches up from the end. I've seen some people paint the front fender as well. Every so often, some will paint their division no. on their bike, but I don't know how common that was. Check out www.maam.org and look at the photos. Chris Davis, of Kilroys Home Front, is especially knowledgeable aout bikes. Let me know if you need to get in contact with him. Jack

Here's a shot of my '43 Huffman.
It is fairly close to completion. I still need a reflector, tool bag and pump. I also need correct versions of the pedals, kickstand and light.
The markings are fairly simple. Most I've seen are just OD with the white on the fender. If you want to get real specific I've seen arguments whether certain small pieces were painted or not (just like in the jeep world). I duplicated the stenciling I found on the top tubes. (INSPECTION / PWR. GRD. EQIP.)
Here's a link to what it looked like when I got it.

Original markings on my 1943 Columbia were the white painted rear fender tip with a 1" '4' just above on the right side...
I repainted those markings after restoration...
Some AAF bikes had a sign attached to the frame..

www.coker.com used to sell a decent BF Goodrich Silvertown Tire in 26 x 2.125....
They looked great on these bikes...
Don't know if they still sell them though...

Here's a link to a photo and description.

The photo is of a red tire but the tread is the same on the black ones. Click on the tire picture to get a closer view.

What is the tread pattern like. Centipede grip ,straight lines, or just typical bicycle tread pattern.
