Transmission fluid leak in air filter housing

Post by Happyhapka » Wed Feb 12, 2025 1:22 pm

1990 m998 6.2, am getting quite a bit of oil dripping from the airfilter housing, looks like transmission fluid, its a new transmission, i dont have the vampire, im not using the cooling loop, i have plenty of fluid in the transmission is i dont have a vent line that even goes to the transmission as i replaced it with a fully built 700r4 that supports 1000hp, the only vent line that i hooked up from the original vent line is i believe the transfer case. so just maybe someone had this same experience.

Thanks all.

Only other atf is power steering. Perhaps ps was over filled / burped air, and it purged through the vent system?

If you have a steering reservoir on top of the engine, it should only be filled half way up the sight glass.
With Dexron.

Cooling loop in T/C might be bad and under high speed/RPM it is sucking into the vent lines and the air cleaner is the exit
