I'm beginning the process of replacing the gas tank floor on my A1. I've got the bottom half of a gas tank available. Has anyone done this? Can they provide any hints or suggestions on how to proceed?
Thanks,
Ralph

Re: Gas Tank Floor Replacement
I have never understood why someone would use the bottom of a tank to fix the floor? They are not the same shape so massive amounts of work will be needed to reshape the tank to be the floor. If you are going to go to all that trouble it would be easier to get flat steel and start from there. I have never made that floor but I made my entire side panel and the front door cutout from scratch when I did mine. This was before Guy made panels and after Fla. Tactical folded. So there were no panels available. It is a lot of work but doing what you suggest means undoing the original tank bottom and then starting over to make it fit the floor. Just my honest opinion.
