looking for Converto dump trailer parts
While on a recent business trip I pulled over to check a cab of what I thought was a Dodge power wagon-dead end. When I turned around I saw a WW II 9-13-44 Converto Dump trailer sitting there in waist high weeds. I found the owner and needless to say I now have it. It is missing a few items
The pictures show condition and the rear gate is on backwards
So I am looking for
lunette
landing gear leg
landing gear pin
landing gear pivot
safety chains
blackout switch
light pigtail
any help would be greatly appreciated
Les

Re: looking for Converto dump trailer parts
The lunnete should be the standard heavier mbt lunnete
Pivot pin is a 1/2 inch either 3 or 3 1/2 inch bolt. Both are used in different places
No safety chains
I need a landing leg pin also

Lunnette size was by serial number range. Mike Wright from here on the Gee can help with determining the correct one to use.

Re: looking for Converto dump trailer parts
Early Converdo Dumps used the THIN style lunette.
Beginning with contract W-11-114eng-1410 (11/1/44) the requirement for the FAT lunette was introduced. That started with USA 0876861....
How about a closeup pic of that data plate...???

Re: looking for Converto dump trailer parts
This Converto Dump Trailer has an interesting addition to it. On the starboard side there is an additional return spring for the tailgate latches. Does this look original or was it kluged on there by someone later on? Also, could you post a closeup of the text on the side.
There also appears to be some sort of handle on the front of the dump box. Looks like a grab handle of some sort. Was that added ? Interesting stuff.
Since it also appears to have all the original reflectors, if you could get a photo of the mfg. of the bezels and plastics, that would be great too.
NICE TRAILER!

Add on grab handle on the front, near the tail gate handle. Nice feature.

I really gotta start paying attention to the original dates of these posts. 2015 ? Really?
I'm more than just a little late to this chat. LOL
