Good call in the NOS bushings. Even with them being 40+ years old, from my experience, they hold up better than the after-market bushings. I had one set that lasted a year and were toast!

Re: WTB Coil Springs and suspension parts for M151A1
I saw a LOT of bad new bushings when I had my shop. And just about every case the owner had replaced them himself. The installation of the busings was not the problem, the problem was that the suspension bolts were tightened before putting the vehicle weight on them. Hence, they were massively preloaded right from the start and they ripped apart from the weight. The bushings are not designed to support weight. They also do not move in the hole. They twist the small amount needed under normal circumstances when installed and tightened after the vehicle is sitting on the ground with engine and all accessories installed. This way they are in a neutral, relaxed position when at rest and driving.

In both cases, the suspension bolts were left loose, jeep lowered to ground, and suspension rocked up and down before tightening the bolts. The aftermarket ones are junk.

I guess the aftermarket has gotten even worse since I got out of regular working on things. I do know you can NEVER get the right part for anything on the first, or sometimes the second try.

I did call Red River and when he listed the parts I needed, he called me back to get payment but I was in a meeting to call them back at 12:02 and missed them by 2 minutes
to now have to wait till 5 Jan 2026
, darn I was hoping to get started on working on my mutt over the holidays. The only parts not avaiable were the upper ball joints which I will need. Anyone have a set? In the meantime I was working on my HMMWV and had a stuck glow plug that kept me busy for a bit.
