Could be mistaken (didn’t look them up in the M38 ORD9 manual to be sure) but don’t think there’s “early or late” versions of the air cleaners or crossover tubes --- they’re all the same throughout M38 production.

If it helps (ready for sticker shock?) ---

John at MidWestMilitary has used take-off air cleaners and pre-cleaners (with brackets and clamps), but is out of stock on crossover tubes here:
