1962 M422A1 for sale $11,500 OBO (((SOLD)))
The truck was acquired by the seller in 2014 from Chico California. The truck was sprayed a sunburnt orange. The seller said the truck had been used on base as a training vehicle.Subsequent work included fitting a new starter, bushings all around, rebuilt transmission by George Diehl in 2016, new brake servo, many oil changes, new tires, fuel lines, and batteries. New wiring looms by Vintage Wiring of Maine. ThisMighty Mite is now offered with a selection of spares and a New York StateTitle and bill of sale.
The Mighty Mite was the first US-built vehicle of its type with an aluminum body to facilitate airlifting and helicopter insertion, and the A1 variant featured a 71″wheelbase. Ventilated wheels were recently mounted with 6.00-16″ Military Design NDT tires. The independent suspension utilizes a front leading-arm and rear trailing-arm setup, and braking is provided by inboard drums mounted on the differential housings. Power is sent to all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with a shift-on-the-fly two-speed transfer case and limited-slip differentials front and rear.
The interior sheet metal is finished in olive drab, and the front bucket seats were recently fitted with new green vinyl covers, yet to be finished.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 60-mph speedometer. The fuel-level gauge and voltmeter are inoperable. The five-digit odometer shows 18,092k miles.
Power is provided by an AMC-designed1.8L air-cooled V4, which was factory rated at 52 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque. Recent service reportedly consisted of changing the oil and replacing the batteries, fuel lines, and fuel filter.
Custom outdoor marine cover included in the sale. PM for pics, can't seem to load to the site.
Thank you,
Hal

I'm the owner. I tried to get as much of the orange paint off while keeping the original green.
Auto Serra in Valhalla NY performed the mechanical work with the exception of the transmission that was sent out to a specialist.
This is a great M422 that could be easily fully stripped and sprayed.
