Need help for GPW Restoration Standards

Post by Mike Wright » Mon Oct 26, 2020 1:24 pm

Hi Guys,
David Doyle is having difficulty finding one photo being used in the GPW Restoration Standards. The photo of Edsel Ford and King Peter II of Yugoslavia - Detroit, MI - July 1, 1942. It shows the king driving a GPW with Edsel in the passengers seat and a Yugoslavian officer standing next to them. Does anyone know who ownes this photo, Ford, Signal Corps, etc or what book it is used in? Any info will help!

Thanks
Mike

This could be of some help for your research.

It comes from the book « Yugoslav-Americans and National Security During World War II«  from Lorraine M. Lee’s.

Thanks Yves! There is a foot note # 131. Can you post what the footnote says?
Thanks
Mike

Unfortunately I have not access to the full book online and I cannot get the footnotes.
I've seen that picture in one of my jeep books, but don't remember which one.
There was a press photo on the Detroit Free Press newspaper front page with Edsel Ford at the wheel
The article was on page 15. Perhaps they have published other photos.
The Detroit Press-July-2-1942.jpg
There is a another photo of that event with the King at the wheel. (Serbian archives - web blog closed)
See that Serbian archive : https://web.archive.org/web/20191102001 ... hives/2311
