Nice looking track, why does the belting appear sectionalized? I would think it would be a continuous flat piece.
Any closeup of it or words of advice would be appreciated here.

Re: Weasel tracks redeux 2019
Hello. I was able to put the caterpillars together in my weasel and have been testing since last year ... first observation and immediately my question is wearing out my teeth in the drive wheels I bought them 5 years ago on ebay $ 500 do any of you use these wheels? But I made the tracks in the traditional way on the conveyor belts arranged in two layers (to have more layers of reinforcement in the rubber), rubber road pads were made of rubber used in snowplows, I attached them by welding flat bars to the grouser to which the rubber was bolted (they are easily replaceable), although in retrospect, these rubbers could be much lower because they are more sensitive to bending when twisting than to abrasion. Unfortunately, I am not successful in posting photos, but I will try to make a video and post it on you tube. Currently, I only have a video of my weasel driving on the streets Regards Tomek.

Hello Tomek,
I don't have any technical answers for you as I have not started working on my T-24 yet.
HOWEVER ....... that video of your Weasel is AWESOME
Just about the best one I have ever seen !!
Looks like you are having great fun with the other WW2 vehicles on a night convoy
A Weasel, a Closed Cab CCKW with original markings, a 1/2 ton Dodge Command Car with trailer ... beautiful !!
Driving around in your beautiful city, with downtown traffic !!!!
If you have more videos please post them on the G.
It was fun to watch
Now I will watch it again !!!
Best Regards,
Ray

Hello, I would like to share with you my idea for tracks nothing fancy I have been testing the rubber road pads for 6 months now working fine, but I think I made them a bit too high. Now I am starting work on new drive wheels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VXVVH5Hdc8

Re: Weasel tracks redeux 2019
Hi everyone,
After reading this thread and several others and looking at different sites I have 1 question.
What is the length of the weasel tracks?
I can see about the type 2 and type 3 tracks, 15" and 20" widths. But nothing on the length.
There are options out there for the rubber track option made in the US, but one would need the dimensions for exactly what were trying to achieve here.
I also may have a contact to be able to make the bands to keep the original tracks. But again, would need good dimensions.

If we had all the dimensions for the track maybe one of the rubber track manufacturers could build some. They make all sizes for excavators and skid steers.

Thats my point. If we knew the track length then we can explore newer options. There are many companies right here in the US that make and sell rubber track.Pasturepilot1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:09 amIf we had all the dimensions for the track maybe one of the rubber track manufacturers could build some. Re: Weasel tracks redeux 2019
Hello. Unfortunately, I use a google translator and I do not know if it will translate properly, but when it comes to the circumference (i.e. the length of the caterpillar), I found such data 56 links track length 6400.8mm (252 inches) and 55 links length 6440.5mm (253 5/8 inches) and remember there are two diameters for the idler and drive pulleys, there are 298mm and 304mm. There is one problem with caterpillars from excavators, the producers recommend transporting them on trailers, not driving at greater distances, only within the working area of the machine ..... and in our case the opposite is about driving I recently went to the mc driva .... Greetings to everyone

Re: Weasel tracks redeux 2019
I have a source for road pads. The gentleman doing them has spent a fortune on molds and r&d and wants to start selling sets. PM me for contact info.
I ordered several hundred feet of new 4” wide by 1/2” thick 3 ply conveyor belt and will have a bunch left over. It was a trimming from a larger belt that needed to be customized. Let me know if interested I can work up a quote just send a shipping zip.
My weasel has type 2 and 3 tracks on it. Tension seems to be the same and sprockets not worn but the type 3 jumps or skips if you will. It is an nos track with a couple miles on it. Are the sprockets a different pitch? Type 2 has 56 and type 3 55 correct?
Thanks
