MVCC Cancelling the September 2020 Meet BUT SPRING 2021 IS ON!!!
With regrets the MVCC is announcing the cancellation of the September Camp Plymouth meet. At our board meeting held at Eagle Field the board voted to wait until the second week of July before making the decision whether to proceed or cancel the September Camp Plymouth Meet but with the recent uptick in cases of the CCP virus we did an online survey and have decided that cancelling the September meet was the prudent thing to do.
If you had sent in a registration application and check those checks will be voided out and returned to you.
We were told that the Southern California club was still planning on their meet in October but that's going to be a wait and see.
Let's all refocus on next April and keep out fingers crossed that there is either a vaccine developed or that this nasty bug has run it's course.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
Sad to say,,,, Canceling public gatherings / events, is the new norm, until a proven vaccine gets developed and dispersed.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
I was just out on an MV 4WD trip with 6 other active MVCC members. We all got word of this together. Not a one of us 7 were a part of this survey. This may very well be the correct call, but said survey doesn't appear to have touched very many people. It's a shame this forum doesn't have a Vote feature.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
It was a vote of the MVCC board after looking at state/county guidelines and the requirement from Amador County to be in Stage 4 recovery before the meet could take place. We had very very low registrations and needed make the call early enough so people can make other plans. The SCMVCC Fall Meet is still on for Sept 30- Oct 4th the last I heard.
So for the MVCC, we are working to make April 2021 the biggest meet ever!
If anyone needs or wants more information on the why and how the board made the decision, I will gladly answer your emails/PM on this.
Thanks

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
I'm sure this is the right decision but I am very disappointed. It was the light at the end of the COVID tunnel I was waiting for. Given no spring meet, my list of parts I need is growing and delaying progress on my projects.
I look forward to our next event as does my pocket book
Too bad we couldnt have a virtual swap meet on the forum or club web site.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
Until there is a vaccine, with a 100% inoculation rate, all public events are screwed.
Currently the public does not want to follow simple guidelines, for small gatherings, political rallies and looting.
Because of the anti-vaccinaters , who wear aluminum foil hats to keep Trump from reading their minds, this situation will never be over.
There is already rumors of a new strain of covid-19, coming to light in China.
Opinion only Right now, I would say Spring Plymouth 2021, is in danger of cancellation.

"Too bad we couldn't have a virtual swap meet on the forum or club web site."
That's something the club can look into on MVCCNews.net or you can always post your wants and spares here. Ron has kept the G503 up for all of us to use. We should all make use of it.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
The only virus specs people should be concerned about are the number of cases in ICUs, and deaths. Number of total cases by itself is irrelevant because more testing finds more positives with no symptoms. Mostly the media reports total number of cases. The reason is most of them are alarmists especially during an election season like this one.
Governments are afraid of overwhelming their number of ICU beds. They were afraid of that months ago and it didn't happen, but it is important. Many in government like to control other people. They don't think the population should have the freedom to run their own lives. In our case, being free means those of us in high risk groups - over 65 and/or pre-existing medical conditions, meaning we can get sicker than the average - should be more careful than others. Staying 6' or more away from others is important, or wearing masks. Not necessarily both, from what I hear. Some argue that the more young and healthy people that get it, with or without symptoms, the more antibodies in the population so the virus can't again use them to go forward. When a lot of people are that way it is called "herd immunity." A disease can fizzle out.
An outdoor event should be a pretty safe place for those who are educated and can control what they do. I don't know if that is us. Reality is Amador County is in charge. There is a very good chance the state will open everything up because the economy demands it. Last week I read that the County said they will follow state rules, not be tighter. If events open up in a month or two we are going to be kicking the dog big time.
It would be interesting to know if 49er is booking sites with no restrictions especially after our block opened up.
Time is ripe for a MV event with no government involved.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
Here are some of the State of California requirements:
*Outdoor spaces intended for gatherings and group functions, including pavilions, communal fire rings, public-use camp kitchens, and amphitheaters should remain closed. Remove, separate, post closure signs, or tape-off all benches, common area picnic tables, and multi-person seating (including seating around fire pits) to discourage visitors from congregating. Playgrounds should also remain closed.
*All public events and/or concentrated gatherings, including group bonfires, group campsites, presentations at outdoor amphitheaters,
musical or other performances, or other events must be cancelled or postponed.
The MVCC will not put at risk, the great working relationships we have with the 49er RV Park, Amador Fairgrounds and Amador County. The county said we can have the meet only in Stage 4 and we will. The only reason we could have the Eagle Field Rally was it is an outdoor museum and we followed all the guidelines from Cal Health and Cal-OSHA.

Re: MVCC Cancelling the September Meet
Since places like So Cal are now experiencing a huge jump in the number of cases....and are nearly at the maximum number of ICU beds available. I believe there IS a direct correlation between the two. It has taken four months for MOST people to accept that masks are necessary. Necessary for you to keep from spreading the disease and necessary to help keep others from getting in from you.
Shelter In Place, masks and Social Distancing WORK....
Sad to say, but I agree the September meet should have been cancelled....Amador County would have prohibited it anyway.
Be SAFE, my brothers...
