DUKW HORN DATA PLATE SOURCE WANTED

Post by SURPDLR » Tue Feb 11, 2020 1:51 pm

Looking for a source for the HORN button data plate for a Nov 1944 DUKW. Original plastic or even brass. Looks like it was a white background with RED lettering.

Any color photos out there to confirm red lettering on while back round??

Thanks,

Jeff,
I think I have a NOS horn button. I probably do not have the data plate. I will look and let you know. The DUKW in the photo is missing the horn button guard.

Jeff,
I did not find any NOS DUKW horn buttons. Must have sold all of them! I did find a couple dimmer light switches.

Steve,

There is NO evidence in the original paint that my DUKW (Nov 1944) had a horn button guard. As I have looked at original photos over the years, I have come to the conclusion that it was hit and miss or more likely an early / late item. How late is anybody's guess I think.... But NOT a NOV 1944 item.

Check out TM 9-802 23 Feb 1945, Page 393 and 396 and you will see a Horn button with NO guard.... Don't know when the photos were taken, BUT.....
