That sounds great. Now if someone can actually post some photos and a narrative on how to rebuild these knee action shocks, that would be fantastic! I find these old shocks very difficult to take a part. Not the caps, but pressing out the shaft to replace the seals particularly.BobRedfern wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:54 amI found a supplier for the internal rebuild kit for the Dodge WC shocks..... If you can, please post photos of your shock rebuild project(s).
Thank you!!

The press you need to take the shaft out is very specialized. I had my leaky shocks rebuilt about three years ago. Not cheap, but better than either destroying the shock trying to take it apart or just watching it do the leaky leaky on your pavement.

All 4 of mine require rebuilding... I have the kits for them, but not the proper tools, etc...

Scott, doing a little more research and calling some folks in the business.. it appears that the shock rebuilding is a specialized process...As some have pointed out earlier on the Forum.....
I did get some advice on what to do with my knee actions shocks. One option is to do nothing... they really are not engaged unless the leaf spring is bent to allow them to work... Not sure that I will ever have any of my Dodge WC vehicles driving on anything but pavement... so the likely hood of bending the springs to allow the shocks to function is remote. Now for folks that really want to redo everything in a true concours restoration.. then another option is available...
You can send them to Apple Hydraulics in New York. Here is the link:
http://www.applehydraulics.com/
The cost is about $250 for each shock.
There is one more option... if you have a friend or someone you know that has the proper tools and presses to rebuild them and they have no idea what its worth to rebuild them commercially... then you are all set! Maybe a steak dinner will work! Ha....
I think I will just clean mine up.... put them back on and go from there.... Bob
