What is the date of publication for your War Department TM9-1825B? I only have found the 20 January 1944 edition which lists the VRY-4203A and the VRY-4203B as for the jeep and with the GEG gennys on page 137.

I did notice that the 1944 edition did NOT list the VRY-4203G regulator though....confusing to say the least.

One might be inclined to think that VRY-4204 regulator is a late war (after publication of the 1/44 edition) option for the G503? If the chart in that edition is the same format as the one in the 1/20/44 edition, it probably shows the genny application in the very last column by the way.

However, the pic posted on the gee of the cover of one clearly reads...."VRY-4204A" and the date code is "X" for 1943 so something is amiss here...

My Auto-Lite ORD Manual is dated Nov. 1952. No pics for a few days tho. It has VRY 4203A features, early OS,Smooth Cover and Cork Gskt.
I have used every imaginable WWII Parts manual to try to find the original application. Had it so long it's like family. I have NOS VRY 4203 in overseas sealed packages I believe they are dated 52. Have seen them with earler and later dates tho. 4203 F and G have late covers black crinkle, may be a difference in the brass drain plug tho.

Yes....the VRY-4203G model does have the brass drain plug...

Anyone have a manual or Autolite Equipment and Parts manual that lists that VRY-4204 version?

If the one you posted the pic of previously has an "X" date on it (1943) then it must have been in use during WWII for something, but in 1943 the jeep was still using the VRY-4203A model.

Examples of the VRY-4203A show up as late as 6/45
Examples of the VRY-4203B start in 1/44 and go through 12/44
Examples of the VRY-4203G show up in 12/44 and run though 7/45

These are REPORTED examples or those seen on the internet or at jeep meets.

Here's the factory tag information, VRY-4204A, 12X00373
The NOS Sealed in factory tagged foil boxes are VRY 4203F with Autolite factory labels and they are;
VRY-4203F dated 3-53. I do not believe these VRY-4203F's are Depot Repacks as the labeling is by Auto-Lite.
Am out of the NOS 1952 dated VRY-4203G Voltage Regulators.

As Joel says, the November 1952 edition of TM 9-1825B lists the VRY 4204 and specs it out just like the 4203 variants.

No mention of application in the manual.

I just checked the data plate on the voltage regulator in my restored MB that I installed NOS from my stock of NOS in 71. It is a VRY 4203G with a 5E date code.

Joel's "5E" reg was made in 1950 but aside from the date, it is in every other respect a proper late war VRY-4203G reg. in other words , simply a replacement for the wartime "G" model.

As to the VRY-4204, since the ORD manuals do not cover ALL WWII vehicles, it most likely has the same internals, but has one or more features externally that were required for a different WWII vehicle.

I have checked known WWII Wheeled Combat Vehicles.
If I had th AAF T.O.s for some of the Aircraft Servicing Vehicles, the first one I would check would be the Clarktor Air Craft Tug. It has the Dodge 230.
The Army AF had its own supply system for Crash Trucks, Tugs, etc.

And I do not know the original application. Knowing what I am dealing with has always been the rule. It's going back on the shelf.
