Reenacting : Belgium Liberation - Malèves-Ste-Marie - 4-5 Sept 2019
Here are a few pictures of that very nice and realistic reenactement of yesterday in Malèves-Sainte-Marie (2nd Armored Division U.S.)
Reenactment groups from different countries were present ; USA, Belgium, Poland, Czech, Holland, Germany and likely others.
Yves
There was an exhibition at 3PM (first attack in the camp)and another one (second attack in a nearby field)

An US group was coming from Carentan (Normandy) going to Berlin !
One halftrack had an engine problem...
They have found a new head gasket in Gerpinnes to resolve the issue.
This sympathetic US reenactor looks like a Hollywood star!

Wow! Thanks for posting the pictures! The large number of Vehicles, the attention to detail of the reenactors and Vehicles was incredible!

Wow, impressive!
Were they using blank-firing weapons? Just curious.

Yes with a lot of blank ammos and remote controlled pyrotechnics to simulate the artillery or mortar shells against the German group hidden in the forest along the field.Lee Bishop wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 1:53 pmWow, impressive!

Photo angles were nice as well.
With the exception of one construction crane in the far background, no where does one see high tension power lines, electric windmills, or the occasional contemporary subcompact car amongst the group. Protective canvas prevalent too, as the all present possibility of rain is there. Did see a red T shirt somewhere however.

Good catch ! Yes the red T shirt was in an M20.
Too bad, that was just by the end of the second reenactment, at night !

Except for the rain and cold night our stay at Malèves was a pretty nice one.
I loved the little museum there. "Musee du Souveniers '40-'45' "
As one of the Signal Photo Company photographers following the September Odyssey trip, organized by 2nd Armored in Europe, from Rumes to Hasselt for the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Belgium, I haven't gotten round to processing any of my film yet. But some digital material from the area around Rumes is up on my site already, more to come:
