Thinking of sell one of my mules
I been kicking around the idea of selling one of mules. I have, I think a 68 mule that I may sell it runs great, electric start, electric fuel pump. no issues with it. 2 wheel steer. I don't have to sell, so price will be firm. $6500.00
Any body interested?

Don't sell Big Duke Six. I might need another tow at Knob Creek.

John, it's a reference to the Air Cav Colonel (Kilgore) in the movie Apocalypse Now. Big Duke Six was his call sign. There is another mule at KCR with Apocalypse Now stenciled on the side. It's a classic if you haven't seen it.Auto Shop teacher wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 6:38 pmHi Dave, how did your mule get the name "big duke six"?

I don't ever remember a time when I have been busier. I showed my wife my cell phone calls for one day at work and she couldn't believe it. 24 calls in one day not counting the text messages and emails. Alot of the time now, I just put it in "airplane mode" so I can get something done.

You must be a very popular guy John, talk about job security, you probably think of yourself as a fireman putting out all the fires keeping things running.

Sorry John, I answered your question about how I came up with the name Big Duke Six, but for some reason it did not show up here. But GF did an excellent job of explaining it. He is right. He originally thought it was a reference to John Wayne. And as much as I like John Wayne, he was not my inspiration.

Re: Thinking of sell one of my mules
Yes it was one of my increasingly numerous senior moments. I had that name confused with John Wayne in the movie The Green Berets. His call sign in that movie was Bulldog. I think it was the "DUKE" in Big Duke 6 that got me. I have seen both about 20 times. BTW, Big Duke 6 was Kilgores (Robert Duvall) way of paying homage to Duke Kahanamoku, who was a Hawaiian competition swimmer who popularized surfing in the 1920's.
Anyway it looks really cool on the side of a mule.
