Visited the USS Arizona.
God gave you a soul.
Your parents, a body.
Your country, a rifle.

Keep all of them clean.

I have been back several times since 1974, driven my vehicles over the beaches, made a symbolic Dawn Landing from a DUKW and this year travelled in my '44 GPW down to St. Andre de l'ure to support the 40 "L Birds which flew in there from all over Europe.
The intention was to fly over the beaches in a WW2 Aircraft, namely a '44 Piper L4 Cub. However, the Weather Gods prevented this, but the promise was made to return at a later date and complete my Trilogy. It has only taken me 45 years so far, so I can wait a while yet.
My Father, a Royal Navy Commando, was part of the Beachmaster's Party landing early on the 6th to control traffic. I have a copy of the Official War Photographer's photo taken of him there.
As a relative with a connection to the event, I was interviewed on TV1 French National TV live from the Airfield, and two photos of My Father were shown, including the one taken at the time at the Beach Command Post - check out my Facebook page for photos , and footage of the interview:-
