Its really taking forever, lots of fiddling and massaging the metal to make it work.

Thanks to you both :)

Unfortunately, I've spent the better part of the week fighting with my DMV. Looks like I'll never be able to get a title for this thing :x

Even with the bill of sale and the police inspecting the VIN, the DMV doesn't want to issue registration as they can't/don't want to check with the other province's DMV.

Might need to ask for a court order but I'm scared of going through all that paperwork.

Would it be possible to complete the registration/licensing at the DMV in the province you bought it in and THEN go back to the local DMV where you live to change it? Otherwise how would anyone be able to move to Quebec and register/license their Ford or Chevy or Toyota they take with them?

Yeah I tried calling them to ask (the DMV in that province) and they told me i couldnt register it without the seller, even with the bill of sale. Thats why id need a court order.

Tell 'em the seller is dead and see if they want to see him.

You know, like you bought it and then before you could attempt to register it, the seller died.

How would these idiots (basically it seems most "DMVs") seem to have some pretty dumb rules) treat you if you went to another province and bought a used car off a car lot and returned with a Bill Of Sale to Quebec? I doubt the dealership where you bought the used car could be convinced to travel to Quebec for this silly rule.

Sometimes I hear you have to post a bond to insure for a period of time that the vehicle does not be reported stolen.

Man, I thought we had it crazy here when registering/licensing from one state to another and even within the same state on occasion!

I think if I say the seller is dead, it might open up another can of worms and they might ask me to have a note from the widow/familly !

Yeah our DMV is a pain in the ass. Its a private corporation instead of being part of the government like in the other provinces. I even asked them if I could open up a file with them so I wouldn't have to explain my case every single time I email/call and they wouldn't do that for me. Also I bet since they're not part of the government, they can't ask other provinces' governments for "private" informations.

Here when you buy a car off a dealer, you get a blue slip that is our registration signed over to your name. We don't need bills of sale for used car transactions done in-province here, just that signed over slip.

They certainly are not making it easy. All I want to do is to pay the taxes! :D

Sorry for the lack of updates,

I've been fighting the DMV, even though now I do have the Nova Scotia title in my hands. It lists the jeep as a 1945 "Jee" GPW231738 with a weight of 13500 KG (instead of 1350.0 kg) and thats too much to handle for their brains!

Also, my dog is on her last weeks/months with us and I've been enjoying the limited time I have left with her rather than on the jeep.

I haven't been doing too good myself but the rest helped a bit.

I also resealed my steering box, it had leaked all its oil from the metal dome cap. Used RTV on it and the cover, and it doesnt leak at all anymore. I got the two knuckles seeping oil from the bottle studs, I think my axle seals might need replacing.

I picked up a Spot welder at Harbor freight last time I visited the US, now I just gotta figure out how to make it work good. Some of the indents are way too deep. Think my pressure and set time are too high.

Sorry for the limited progress

Etienne

Went to Dallas for work for our video game's launch. Ate like a king :D

Rear grab corner handles were bent and wouldnt fit the new straight rear panel. Got it almost OK.

Also, does anybody know what the whole between the C4-C5 door curtain holes is for? Have it on both sides.

That hole was probably used at some time to fit a bracket for the door of the winter top. It is in approx. the position you usually see holes, either in the side or in the top of the doorway. Not an original position for a hole as far as I know.
