All slat blocks I have seen have had the split water pump hole.
Any examples? Photo? I have not heard this in the past and it is something to learn. Thanks.

Hi David,
Here is the front of block MB-114815. I have another later slat block as well as an earlier Americar engine and they are all 3 like this.

I am not sure when that was eliminated, but pretty sure it was a feature of earlier engines.

Of course another way to check the date is to pull the oil pan off and see if you can find the stamped machining date.

Thanks Andy. I guess in my old age I forget that "I knew that" but just forgot. Here is my block back in June 2013 that I must have had the same dang question but just...uh...what was I just talking about? Doh!!!

You think that's bad ... I am at the point of telling the same stories over and over again to my friends as I forget who I told them to.
