CJ2A with German Data Plates?
I recently came across a CJ2A done up with a military paint scheme that had German Data plates, both on the dash and inner fender. But still had holes where the original data plates would be. I don't happen to have a picture but was wondering if anyone here knew the story on this. Exported CJ2A at one time? Ive seen French data plates, but never German.

CJs were exported all over the world after WW2; there is an ad in a magazine in German, it's in the CJ3a book. Problem is that yours is the only one to make it back.

Yep Willy's pushed hard for export market as the jeeps were very familiar and the ones left from the war in Europe were rode hard. I believe the only od green they offered was for exports and the domestic paint was with colors. That is a a nice find

Re: CJ2A with German Data Plates?
I figured it out!
Took me a few hours of searching around - Swiss Military CJ2A, only 400 made. It threw me off because at first I thought it was a CJ2A done up to look like a GPW and had a mishmash of different parts. It had an 1/2 size axe mounted inside the tub next to the passenger seat. Drawbar, jerry can holder on the tailgate, a 1919 mount and square shoulder military tires. Also had a lefty spare.
This is not the one I saw today, but it looked just like this only OD green.

May I ask where you got your info on this jeep from.
Anyone else have any more info on this jeep. Sounds interesting.

Seems there might be more than one that made it back.
