Famous jeep flaw "pull to left" captured in Berlin 1945

Post by YLG80 » Sun Apr 28, 2019 5:50 am

A movie taken in 1945 in Berlin, showing the dangerous flaw of the Willys MB and Ford GPW.
That flaw pulls the jeep to the left during braking as shown in the film.
It requires a quick counter-steering to avoid veering into the other lane.

Hi Yves,

Could be an early example, without the torque reaction spring fitted.
Looks like a black Sheller steering wheel as well.
Unfortunately the picture is to dark to see (for me)if it is a slat-grill MB

Glad that he did brake, otherwise we would not be able to see this film :D
Thanks for sharing.

A command performance if I ever saw one. That is a characteristic of the MB/GPW, but it does not have th be a G-503 Jeep to do that, M-38/M-38A1, CJ-2A-CJ-5 will do the same with contaminated shoes.
