TM9-8030, the same TM as the M-37 The M-42 command Truck is identical to the M-3. The TM does include Command Truck Information in the introduction. It also mrntions the Command Truck Kit. The components, B.O. Curtains, Map Tablr, etc are listed in ORD 9 SNL G741. Command Truck arts are listed in the ORD 9,section 1810.
There is no reference to the M-42 Command Truck in TM9-2320-212-20P and the -34P Dated March and April 1972 or in the 1973 -20 Manual.

The Kits were numerous at the DRMO's back in 60's and 70's, not too popular tho. Data Plates for the M-42 should be available thru your dealers.
Albert Williams had these Kits 40 years ago.

Can't hel you any more than this.

I have two M-42s with those marked data plates on them. Just wondering if worth trying to assemble the radios and install with a kit (if I can find one????? ). Odd that at the auction I went to where the M37s (M42s) were bought there were five Dodge trucks and I got two that had M42 data plates! How common is the M42 designation???? and original data plate???

They are very rare. You should restore it if you can; the correct radios are worth more than the truck.

I bought the two M42s at a salvage auction in Reserve, NM last year.....$2100 for one $1500 for the other and DROVE THEM ONTO THE TRAILER for transport home!!!! :D Ya gotta love the condition of stuff still being found out here in the sunny Southwestern deserts!!!!!
I will be restoring them - may not have all the radios but likely have some....guessing they pulled a trailer with a PE95 on it for the power to run the radios!!!!????

The Army had smaller Gensets that were carried in the Dodge. PE-95 is AC current and the trailered unit is way too heavy for the Dodge.

You are very lucky; nothing remotely like that condition any more East of the Rockies, in the wild.
