Any idea why the AS-1729 base is classified as MX miscellaneous instead of the AB antenna base that it so obviously is?

It baffles me that they created this well-organized taxonomy for equipment, then they name things that fit squarely into one category with the nomenclature of a completely incorrect category.

Why are short steel mast sections named as antenna bases? Why is the GRC-9 a Ground radio and not a Portable one—or a Transportable one, even? In what universe is the PRC-47 “portable”? What merits the URC Universal designator, and why is the SINCGARS not one?

my first theory is that engineers over think everything.
my second theory after talking to the two JETEDS people. is that they dont have clue. there just somebody who wandered into the job.
and lately theyv been letting the contractors name there own stuff for marketing purposes
