FS: WW2 M2/M2 60MM Mortar display rig SOLD
Time to thin the herd...
I've owned this US WW2 60MM M2/M2 Mortar twice in the last 23 years and now it's going away for good...
This tube/cup, baseplate and bipod were purchased together in 1995. At that time they had French markings stenciled on the tube. I spent a while cleaning and refinishing it in 33070 O.D. When I sold it years later, the new owner/collector patched the demil hole in the tube with a thin layer of bondo over aluminum foil -- no weld. Came out GREAT and yes, you can easily remove it if you so desire. He then refinished it, once more, in 33070.
This rig consists of the following:
* M2 US GI Tube with 1941 dated KVS Engineering Cup. Cup and tube welded together as was the demil at that time. Hole in tube (covered as discussed earlier). As you see in the pics, the tube and cup markings are perfectly intact...
* M2 pattern (exposed Traverse Screw) Mount. Saw one of these with these threads at the 2019 SOS that had a 1940 US data plate intact. That jives with the 1941 dated cup. It is missing the leather leg strap but that is provided in this offering (see below). Mechanically perfect.
* WW2 US Baseplate. Excellent condition.
* US WW2 M4 Sight (1943 dated) with unissued Leather Case (& Strap), rare US WW2 Sight Extension, unissued Instrument Light (for M4 Sight), unissued Sling/Muzzle Cover, and superb replica leather Leg Strap ready to install...
* US WW2 Baseplate Bag (VG-EXC), Ammunition Bag M-1(VG), Ammunition Bag M-2 (NOS), Shoulder Pads (NOS), M-4 Tool Roll (NOS), Aiming Post (NOS) and Aiming Post Light (NOS, likely postwar), and Cleaning Rod (NOS)...
Yep, pretty much "one stop shopping" for a very scarce, early war 60MM M2/M2 rig. There are plenty of M2/M5 (late war) sets out there, but not many of these.
Sold as a set only, for $4500 plus shipping. Domestic sales only please. Please PM direct if you are interested. Thanks for looking!

BTT. See it in person at the 2019 Louisville Show-of-Shows (if unsold by then) and save on postage...

It won't be at any other shows until then, so there's a good possibility it'll still be available at the SOS. I'll be there on set-up day through to Saturday, noon.

Looks like it's making the road trip to the Louisville SOS. Show set-up on Wednesday, 02/20/19, is 1700-2000. Should stand out pretty good... I don't recall seeing any in the last two shows. We have a six table "cube" in the Northeast quadrant. For the helmet enthusiasts, we'll have an exceptional 1918 US Experimental Helmet #8 (priced better than its current e-Bay listing due to no fees), complete, original and VG-EXC Waffen SS M42, and a great, 3-tone camo LW M42 helmet.
See ya there,

Jeff if you don't sell it, bring it to the Camp Plymouth show in April, replacement for the Petaluma and Tower Park venues. Should be bigger than all past annual meets in California and the West.

Thanks John but I've given up on the CA meets since 2016. It was great while it lasted (for me, 2002-2016) but I'm making my road trips elsewhere these days.

Sold pending funds.
Saw another early M2-M2, unrestored with some issues, at the SOS but it had the original US 1940 data plate -- and the same threads on the traverse screw. So my mount was early, US-GI as I suspected.

Jeff, do you mind sharing where you found the replacement leather leg strap?
