Hehe, thank you sir! One small step at a time
I got the patches in, most of it straight, I just gotta planish up the smaller dents. Thats the long part.

Re: 1944 Ford GPW-231738 - "Potshot"
Thanks Birnie
Merci Florent Tant mieux, je suis artiste de métier! haha
Slow progress again, we had so much snow here (60cm in a week) that we had to shovel the roof not once but twice this month! Also my car that I use for commuting decided I needed new chains and a new clutch so funds are a bit tight at the moment.
I planished the left side panel as good as I can, its not oil canning and quite close to flat. Not good enough yet but as good as I can get it for now.
Trying to learn hammerforming now.

Looking good, Boyso! But only 60cm of snow? Doesn't that equate to 6in? Just move the decimal when converting from standard to metric, right?
JK, of course. We've only had about 10in total all year in my area, and so far it has completely melted within a day or two of falling. Couldn't imagine what you guys experience!

Hehe, you can see how pissed off I look after an hour or two of shoveling.

WoW !!!
That is a lot of snow !!!
Your house looks beautiful, you must have some pretty strong trusses under that roof to hold the winter
snow loads
Your jeep is coming along nicely, really enjoy your updates and progress pictures !
Best Regards,
Ray

Well,
It is beautiful, and you can always put your skills to work building your own someday
Time does fly when we are having fun, that is for certain

Man, That brings back some memories. I went to Ontario in January for work one year and it was -40F. I later found out that that is also -40C. Because when it gets that cold.....who cares.

Re: 1944 Ford GPW-231738 - "Potshot"
Yeah exactly! I can't wait for spring...
I bought a 6" sheet metal brake that snaps onto a vise's jaws. Anyone know if I could possibly do longer bends with it, ie 8" long? Or I was thinking mounting longer bits of angle iron onto the brake do those them longer bends.
I just need to buy a bigger vise too now. Missed the sale at CanadianTire dangit. Will have to pay 120$ instead of 70
My bends arent sharp enough, will need to tighten it up with a dolly.
Oh and I'm quite happy not to be working in the car shelter anymore, theres so much snow on it now. I'm surprised it hasnt collapsed yet.

Re: 1944 Ford GPW-231738 - "Potshot"
Thank you sir
I found a cheapo 6" vise this week. I'll test it out this weekend to see if I can tighten up those bends a little

Re: 1944 Ford GPW-231738 - "Potshot"
I then realized an error in my mesurments for the side panel of the wheelhouse. Had to redo it.
Since I used 18ga steel instead of the thinner steel used on the wheelhouses, some of my mesurments weren't exact. The softer bends didn't help either. Had to trim and massage the parts to fit.
On the last photo, should the pannel touch the end of the brace on the rear panel or is it supposed to be a gap?
I'll be at a video game convention next week in Boston for work, so I'll be back to work on it further in 2 weeks
