Anyone heading east from April event with trailer?

Post by Michael O. » Tue Feb 05, 2019 8:14 am

I’m in search of someone who might be heading east with an empty trailer who could help me transport a GPW from the MVCC event to Nebraska or somewhere closer. I could meet up in Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma or even South Dakota.

Thanks in advance!

Michael,

I have used a normal vehicle transport company in the past. I believe the cost was under $3000 from CA. to PA. I got several quotes and they were all very close. The last company I used was Sunday Auto Transport based in PA.

You are not allowed to take our treasure out of California. Sorry.

If it was an MB, we might give you a pass. Just sayin'...

Hope the jeep appears in the jeep showcase on Friday 4/19. Might be a western US record for jeep turnout. Magazine photo and all that.

The jeep won’t actually be at the show unless I can arrange shipment from the show, in which case I’ll be there to help load it. I’d really enjoy going to the MVCC show again this year if I can arrange for the time off.

It would be nice to see it there. Maybe whoever you contract for hauling it can get to Plymouth about as easy as anywhere else? It's 19 miles from US 50, just a bit farther from 99. Saturday or Sunday would be ideal but if Friday afternoon you could put it in the jeep showcase, which ends at 1100.

Not much to showcase really...it’s unrestored.

Any vehicle of the invited types are more than welcome at our meets and in the themed showcases. We like a variety including unrestored vehicles because they can have features not seen on restored ones. Each tells a story. Also we like big displays!

All participants in the Jeep Showcase -WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and CJ pre-1987 Presented by MD Juan and the Ford GTB and Chevy M6 Bomb Service Truck Showcase Presented by Hagerty will be listed in an article sent to the two U.S. military vehicle magazines.

Nobody heading east from the event with room on a trailer for a GPW? Again, I could meet you in any state along the way if your travels don’t take you through Nebraska.

I have several quotes from other professional vehicle shippers but I’ve always preferred working with (and paying) other MV enthusiasts when needing vehicle shipping assistance.

You should post on the Transportation forum. Also add one to our event thread on Events Forum. Over 1,100 views there. That's actually where the official event announcement was put (besides www.MVCCNews.net) because these April meets are much bigger than a club meet. More non-MVCC members read Events and some probably don't think to go to our club forum.

We always put the event info over on www.SteelSoldiers.com so you might want to get on that thread. And they have a transportation forum.

Not much time left but you could look for other clubs to the east via www.MVPA.org and shoot their president or webmaster a note. Maybe they do email blasts or have an electronic newsletter with want ads or they know of members driving. It's possible someone is bringing a MV or big parts to sell at Plymouth and will have space going back.
