Here is a Toledo early MB engine pic. It appears the "A" part number is below the chamber for the heat riser...

Re: Slat MB exhaust manifold? Mystery Solved!
Am not convinced. Why would a 40's Exhaust Manifold made for CJ-2A and MB not share same Part Numbers,? The A-659 exhaust manifold castings were OEM to 50's M-38's and the assembled 801826 number used for the M-38 Exhaust Manifold Assy still had the A-659 Casting numbers on them.

Joel, they DO share the same part numbers but that does not make all A-659 marked exhaust manifolds correct for an MB. I was trying to figure out the correct application of this particular style of the A-659 exhaust manifold and a few CJ guys are adamant that this particular one is for a 1945-47 CJ...which would mean it has no place on any MB...at least none of mine.

Re: Slat MB exhaust manifold? Mystery Solved!
Don't give up too soon.Am not saying that all A-659 marked manifolds are MB, just that there is merit to checking out the manifolds of the PE-95 sue to their greater chance to be original MB due to their easier life.Ask the PE95 crowd, there is much more chance of a PE-95 having the factory installed original WWII manifold than on a Jeep. The PE 95 engines did not get the workout a Jeep did due to their easy life of 1800 RPM. Those familiar with operating and maintaining PE95's will agree . Have you heard from any PE-95 owners that have looked at their exhaust manifolds for you?
The SNL Reference for PE-95 is SNL G-716. There is reference to G-716 in some of the WWII Dated SNL's for the G--503.

Re: Slat MB exhaust manifold? Mystery Solved!
Joel, I understand what you’re saying and your logic behind it...I believe it to be quite a sound suggestion.
I don’t personally have access to a PE-95 but I am scouring through photographs in an attempt to see if this particularly marked A-659 exhaust manifold is present.
While there are a few others who have this type of manifold in their possession, this is the only one I have ever owned or ever seen personally...and I’ve seen and had a lot of MB exhaust manifolds. Researching this particular manifold has been of particular interest to me as I enjoy the research into it.

Re: Slat MB exhaust manifold? Mystery Solved!
I went thru my PE-95 TM's 11-904H and TM 11-804 dated Sept 43 and July 45, the photos are not that clear. I have a complete manifold assy from a nice PE 95 I stripped for the engine. Will look to see what the exhaust details are. Wish I could back up to the early 80's as I bought a few of these fron Gov't agencies and used to call Onan and talk to their engineer who designed the PE-95 during WWII . He helped me with what few service parts they had. (Relay and a couple switches) They had stopped servicing it earlier due to being obsolete. I got to wish him well as he retired around 81-82 and that was the end of anything PE-95 from ONAN
Somewhere in my files I have an 8X10 glossy of your photo sent to me by LAWRENCE NABHOLTZ. He was curioous about the different than standard Oil Line to the Filter.

Take notice of the lock washer on the steering column clamp!
Looks like it was the wrong size or a bad washer.
