Assuming that seller knows his stuff. I wish I knew how he was dating them to c.1915. If the serial numbers are sequential, as one would expect, mine is almost 1,000 units older than his.

I have some W.Watson Bino’s from 1916, I will upload some pictures later. Very silmilar markings so yours look to be early.

Here are mine, unfortunately a different model so I suspect the serial numbers will have a different sequence.
These are named to a Lieutenant R.A. Lusty of the 12th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment .( My Grandfather was in the 13th Batt. Royal Sussex Regiment. Taken prisoner at 3rd Battle of Ypres)

Thanks, Rog. Those are sweet! And spittin' image except for the markings. No date on mine, and no broad arrows.

I found a 1942 (brass label, General Detroit, not General Fire Truck) S-O-S Fire Guard fire extinguisher at the flea market this morning and a dozen or so issues of Stars and Stripes, all from WWII. The FE has a few small dings and is slightly tarnished, but overall in excellent condition, and most of the original finish is intact, the original brass label is totally legible, and it will clean up nicely.

Congratulations on acquiring that beautiful General Detroit S-O-S fire extinguisher! That's a real score in my book. And the Stars and Stripes will provide some delightful wintertime fireside reading. Happy New Year!

Not only do our (SE AZ) flea markets -- aka "Swap Meets" -- suck as a rule, but they're never on a Thursday... I'm envious Mr. Nutt.

Thanks, Fred! Good to see you checking in now and again. And Happy New Year to you, too, sir!Fred Coldwell wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 8:27 amCongratulations on acquiring that beautiful General Detroit S-O-S fire extinguisher! That's a real score in my book. I am lucky. I have three regular spots, all more or less on my way to work. This one is known for Thursdays. Go there on a Sunday and it will be a ghost town. I also have a Wednesday spot, which is also my second stop on a Friday, but that one is closed until spring. My first Friday spot is open year round, and it is also good on Sundays. I am usually too busy to get out on Saturdays, and Saturday, Monday and Tuesday are really the only days I am not walking around a flea market. Believe it or not, as I inch up on permanent empty nest retirement status, leaving my flea markets is a little entry on the "Con" side of the mental ledger in my head!

They make great Living History Display accents on a cot, a field desk, a jeep back seat, or tucked inside a toolbox too!

Re: Wingnutt's Flea Market Frenzy - Version 2019
Half of my two-item haul today - the little critter at the bottom - is all Don's fault!
It is a PEXTO #2 rivet set and header. Or, in official upper-echelon ORD 6 SNL G-27 stockage-speak...
41-S-2323 | SET and HEADER, rivet, coppersmiths', tinsmiths', and saddlers', size No. 2, length 5 in.
I have seen these from time to time, usually in onesy-twosies, and usually unmarked (rivet sets and headers are a fairly common shop-made tool), and I have not had much interest. But now that Don planted the eyeworm, I guess I will be bringing some home.
Unfortunately, someone with the initials "A.S." really liked this PEXTO jobbie apparently, and he may not have liked the litle hole that some of them have through the body, as he appears to have filled it with brazing. It also needs to be groomed on the striking end. I will add it to the list of small winter projects.
The socket set is neither wartime or military.

Greg,
Nice Pexto rivet set. Are they also part of the trimmer’s set? Also, if you don’t decide to go into the saddlery business you can always use it to set the copper rivers in your jeans but for the fact that a #2 setter may be too large for that job. So, you might have to get more of these.
Thank you,
Henry

Today's take...
That 25-foot length of vintage manila rope will be spliced into a bumper tow rope right quick. That brass canister with the threaded lid with the ears for opening and closing is not wartime or military, I don't think, but the swabees out there may appreciate it. It's off a ship. Those sticks inside it are old signal flares.

You're having a stellar year of finds already Wingnutt! I'm going to have to try and play catchup. I finally made it to the flea for the first time this year.
I managed to bring home a few wartime items. Chrome plated Plomb WF-85, Vlchek and OTC combos, and an Androck slotted driver. Oh, and this heavy steel case containing a Brown and Sharpe dial indicator, but with a Starrett gauge.
Also, it feels a bit brittle, but I thought you may be interested in this K-D battery strap?
