Mighty Mite seals

Post by takpak » Sun Dec 02, 2018 8:10 pm

Am rebuilding a 1962 MMA1. Does anyone have a cross reference number for the steering knuckle sleeve assembly? It's the seal that is pressed into the end of the plastic sleeve the boot is attached to on the drive shaft. I have a number from the original seal that is "CR" 7973134. Apparently CR is now SKF. I was able to find the crossover for the hub seal, the 7985071 one, which is now listed as SKF 26141, and oddly enough it's listed as being for American Motors. No luck on crossing over the 7973134 seal though. Ideas?

Terry,

The Mighty Mite parts sources should have NOS sleeve assemblies and seals.
The seal is a thick lip design as it both slides and rotates.

SKF 11558 shaft seal matches the OD/ID, but half the width. It could work; maybe stack up two in tandem.
$12 on Amazon.
