No mirror fitted - but screws replaced in holes on that shot.

On the above photo, we can see the effects of the war on the skinny bodies of the inhabitants.
The young boy looks particularly hungry!

6 little Jeep dames of the day....
The next picture taken by Lee Miller in 1944, shows little girls and boys climbing up in the jeep to reach the Sgt Fred Feekart's chocolate ration proffered by the driver.
Dinard France, 1944
Dinard is in front of Saint Malo, on the other side of the Rance estuary.
That photo is likely dated of August, 15th or 16th, 1944, the date of the Dinard liberation.
I guess the youngest kids did not even know what was chocolate.

Talking of chocolate rations, i know Hershey supplied wartime rations, but did any other confectionary company contribute ? I know Cadburys contributed in the U.K.

I take the opportunity that you are writing about chocolate during WWII.
I've found here, in an attic, a full and unopened can of cocoa.
If I shake the can, it looks like the content is still OK :) .
I'm convinced it comes from a UK or US military supply but I cannot find any information about the W.S.S & CO Ltd.
There is something written in faint blue (like a stamp) below the company name PKUD/'43 or RXUD/'43. Difficult to read.
Any info on that cocoa can or about the company?

In the meantime here is another photo of Jeep dames of the day.
It is one of the most famous photos of the liberation of Paris
The driver looks surprised and quite happy to suddenly be the target of these 3 young women :D

Yves, that cocoa tin is not familiar to me. All i know is Cadburys supplied most of the cocoa in England during the war. I should know as i worked for them for 41 years. The tin with WSS on it, a wild guess maybe, could it be linked to Suchard ? Oh nice happy girls around the jeep. :D

@Mark : What is strange is that I've never found any information on the W.S.S & CO Ltd company.

Anyway, let's continue with the ladies and the jeep.
Here the ladies are sitting in a 2nd DB (General Leclerc) jeep in Paris on August, 25th, 1944

Hmmm no need to mention who is that star... but she was working, entertaining the troops, in Korea, 1954.
I guess the jeep will make Joël very happy  ! Nice and shiny Jeep.

Yes, Marilyn knows the postures she has to take with a photographer :)!

Here the Dames are taking profit of a Canadian or British Jeep to protect themselves against a sniper during the liberation of Paris.

Yes, it was too early to celebrate the Liberation in the street of Paris.
There is a period film on that event and that film can be viewed on youtube.
The snipers were shooting from the building roofs.
