MB Frames

Post by woody96639 » Mon Oct 08, 2018 8:02 am

I have 3 MB frames that need to go before winter gets here. The first one (closest in top photo) is a 1943 and still has frame tag. Frame horns could be saved in my opinion. Original bumper gussets are also there but it would be challenging to save them. Middle frame is 1945 based on its features. The last frame is (best guess) 1943. All frames have their issues but plenty of good steel left. Not really interested in shipping. Asking $200 obo for the lot of them. Located in southern Maine.
All sold!

Not at this point. If no one wants that frame, I'll pull the tag and mail it to you before I send it to the scrap yard.

I'm curious; what features did you use to differentiate the '45 from the '43?

I have a "salad" that I thought was a '45 frame but the body is essentially '43 so I'm just wondering what clues you used to determine the vintage.

Thanx!

Flat rivets on the top of rear crossmember plus the triangular braces under the rear crossmember. I believe those were features added early in 1945. The frame I'm guessing is a '43 had studs on the bottom of the front crossmember and half moon cut-out in the rear inner frame rail reinforcement. Could still be late '42 or early '44 though.
