Picked this up recently. Was found in a stable used by the Buffalo Soldiers in the early part of WWII. Kind of fitting.

DOD 3/27/42. Other than some Bubba add ons, the only missing major part is the original engine. It now has an F head in it.

Not much rust, mainly the bottom of the fuel tank well. Tank completely missing bottom half.

Hello,

You have a great jeep find there !!!!
Hood numbers, and looks like rear numbers as well, with Willys script !!

You may be able to easily scrape off all the loose paint to restore original paint with markings !!!

Please add more pics when possible !!

That would look nice in my jeep barn :D :D :D :D

Some more. Maybe the rarest part on this jeep, the flat top grill apparently only made a couple of weeks in Mar 42.

Under the yellow is the basic OD.

That's a very nice looking Willys!
There are a lot of early features visible.

About the color, there is a bunch of Willys known here on the forum, all in yellow, and within a short range of serialnumbers.

Time to get rid of the F head :shock: Its got a chocolate shake in the crankcase and it has to go regardless.

Been putting up WTB adds for an engine or block near 1314XX, nothing yet, but patience is the key. I have been offered a later MB engine for free but it is cracked along the bottom of the water jacket. Suppose i could see about trying to fix that one, but if going to the trouble would really like to get one real close so at least the casting dates are correct.

I did locate a rebuildable T84 to replace the T10 currently in the Jeep and at a good price too!

Worked over the weekend to get the body off. Almost there. a couple real stuborn body mount bolts to go. Amazingly the steering wheel came off without much fuss.
I started paying more attention to things I had not before.

Im wondering if this may have been a radio jeep at tome point in time? I wonder because:

There is a rectangular hole right behind the transmission hump. Its been crudely covered.

It has a PTO lever.

There is a PTO on the back of the transfer case with what looks like the remains of a belt pulley.

50 amp ammeter.

Thoughts?

I’ve 131175 and it was completely stripped, so will be very interested in your progress- please keep the photos coming!

I see your Jeep has a mirror arm still fitted. Regardless if you believe it original or not, can you please share a few photos of it?

I’m trying to get some info and develop a pattern of what was fitted to what.

I also saw your statement about the block.

Given MB blocks never matched the serial number, you should be looking slightly higher.
The original motor to MB 131175 is MB 133550: so I’d say anything around that 133Xxx even a it lower or higher would be arguably very correct.

The restoration begins!

So far I have located 2 transfer cases of the same vintage and 1 and 1/2 transmissions. I am reasonably sure the inards of the original are not salvageable, but I have more than enough good parts to rebuild the original trans and transfer case now.

Already known that the F-head has got to go (somewhere, anywhere). I located and purchased what I believe to be a Government replacement engine, which would be more correct than trying to pass off another engine as the original, LOL. I posted a question about that engine up in the Technical Knowledge Base.

Next is finish taking the body off, Its close with just one bolt I cant get undone or get to break off, and getting the PTO out from under the body. Hoping to get it soda/water blasted next month, then the body work begins.
