Fuel Tank Rubber Seals?

Post by Mark » Wed Jul 11, 2018 5:59 pm

Did slat grills have the fuel tank rubber seals installed? These are the rubber seals that go around the tank to keep debris from getting into the tank well. I checked the 12-1-41 Parts List and do not see the seals listed anywhere.

Thanks

Anyone else able to chime in? Were these seals on them from start to finish? Or is there a ser# range that got them while others didn't?

I did locate them in the 12-1-41 Parts List, they were in the Body section under Floor Mats & Seals (thought they would have been in the fuel tank section). Not sure if that is proof that they were used on all slats or not, the 12-1-41 Parts List has other date related inconsistencies in it. For example in includes the 50 Amp amp guage and combat rims both of which were not actually used until months after Dec 41.

I did end up installing them which was a PIA! I do not think the rubber on the new reproduction ones is as soft as the original must have been. It is very difficult to impossible to compress them enough on all 3 sides of the tank to get the tank into the well. I ended up leaving the rear one out since it is not even visable anyway.
