CJV-35
I am writing for a friend of mine with questions about a Jeep that he is currently restoring. The plate on the Firewall reads, CJV-35, 10345. The first plate on the Dash reads V-35/U, Ser U, For General Radio Use, Willys Overland, Manufactured for Navy Dept.- Bureau of Ships, Contract N8552660. There are also Two Deep Water Fording Plates. The engine Generator Serial reads GEG5006AU,6Volts 40 amps. There is a Pulley on the Rear of the Transfer Case, and a Generator Mount between the seats. The Front Bumper has been changed, but there are still Two Rams Horn Hooks on the Frame Horns. Also there are Two Lifting Rings on the rear of Frame behind the Bumperettes. Any information would be helpful. Sincerely Ed S.

Re: CJV-35
There are those here much more knowledgeable than I on the V-35/U, but I think it is pretty good condition.
There is a lot right and some wrong on it... I don't think I have seen that windshield modification before and cannot remember it having a heater but most of the other items are common issues thru the years. Sucks to be missing the PTO idler arm.
Those are combat wheels, correct?
So, Ed, what level of restoration is your friend looking for?
Great job pulling up the photos, Farrell!

Re: CJV-35
He is not restoring it,but simply fixing it up as a driver for the son of the original owner. It has been in the same family for many years. The son told him that his Dad purchased it from the Forest Service. Again Thank You very much Farrell for posting the photos. Ed

Re: CJV-35
I just finished restoring 2 of these and have a lot of info an knowledge, as mark said your friends V-35 has many rare parts still on it which is amazing, It has some incorrect parts as Mark said. I being a purist hate to hear that an uncommon contract radio jeep is going to be used as a driver and not restored, but i get it. That is a really nice example and would be really nice restored. Here is a pic of two of mine.

Re: CJV-35
So, photos of the radio box/antenna, gen/PTO, battery boxes and radio system, Mike?
Those look great... are you taking them to TP next year or maybe a convention?

Re: CJV-35
Mark,
I will post pics of the radio box, generator etc. when i get time. I just finished the second one and took it to Tower park last week. There are some minor issues i need to fix. I want to go to the MVPA Convention but York PA is very far to tow from AZ. We will see. Would be about a 2 week ordeal and i am not retired yet. I may look into a transport company but that will turn into thousands of dollars. The Jeep is complete with all the original underhood components functioning including the Bendix Scintilla Distributor, generator, starter, regulator, horn etc. The Radio cabinet is original, i chose to use TCS radios since i did not know what radios were originally in this jeep. I had to reproduce the spare parts box and the under dash remote. The Battery boxes and rear generator sheet metal was also reproduced. The Generator was obtained NOS as part of an installation Kit. The tub, chassis and all body parts are original except the Hat channels and the front floor sections. My first V35 is nicely restored but not as complete and it has some reproduction sheet metal. It has M Series ignition and lacks the waterproof electronic components. I have not been able to obtain all the of the radio gear and other things to complete it so for now its a nice running V35 for parades and shows. My third V35 is an unrestored Jeep that i am trying to sell eventually. I will have all three of my V-35s at Both AZ Shows in the Winter Spring of 2019.
