Barn Find during Camp Petaluma

Post by EJOWest » Mon Apr 30, 2018 7:39 pm

So I was shooting the breeze at the Dodge Showcase Friday with Matt Parry and Tom Furrer. Tom said he heard about a WC in an old barn in Petaluma. So after texting a few people we tracked down a phone number and I called the rancher. Matt, Floyd (a friend of Matt's) and I took a ride out to the ranch on Sonoma Mountain after the Dodge Showcase. We could see the KOA campground from the Ranch! The ranchers grandfather bought the WC52 in 1945 and it worked on the ranch feeding cattle until 1973 when it was retired to the barn. Except for dings and dents from a life on a ranch it is unmolested. I went and got my trailer that evening and picked it up!

Saw the barn find info and that is most excellent. Thought I'd take the opportunity to say Bravo-Zulu to Dave and all the MVCC officers and volunteers who made this event happen. I had an enjoyable time although didn't get to see everyone I'd like to have. I'm looking forward to Camp Delta again, and again say thank you to all who did the absolute best anybody could have asked for under Petaluma's circumstances.

Man, you guys are living right. I love that it happened during the Dodge showcase, that must have made your barn-smell-o-vision more keen. Then Matt won 1st in the peoples choice for the Dodge Boys Meet. Great day, enjoy the truck.

Ernie and Matt (AKA "Bert & Ernie") were gone so long they almost missed an excellent dinner in our camp...eating and drinking being two of our favorite after-hours activities when we get together around the campfire. Then we got the story about where they were. Ernie came back with the biggest grin on his face since it was in such good condition...looked like all you needed was to start 'er up and DRIVE it home!

Matt found out the next day that he won a prize in the Dodge Display so they both did pretty well. We still made them pull KP as assigned even though they both hit the lottery...Matt's being more of a "Scratcher" prize and Ernie's being a bit more overwhelming.

Ernie is running out of space to put his "treasures" and isn't retired (yet) so he's got plenty of restorations ahead of him!
