Question: Trinkwasser 5L Internal Restoration
I want to clean up the inside and be able to safely drink water from it. I was going to CLR the inside which I think will do the job nicely. There is some white scaling inside. Wondering if anyone has restored the inside of a similar container. Any thoughts or ideas.

I've cleaned canteens out with denture tablets. It worked fine. I am unsure of the lining within this cans though. Oxidation of the metal would be a primary concern though.

pvttab I've never heard of that before, but will look into it. The inside is bare aluminum which is why I'm a little hesitant to use CLR which will strip aluminum at the very least. which would be fine in this application on the inside but am a little reluctant because I'm not convinced I can then get it fully clean... Denture tabs, it sounds good to me. I'm also considering regular old vinegar and hot, hot water. I'm also hunting a large bottle brush too. Thanks for the idea!

Worst case scenario if you do not find a product that you feel will not damage the metal or clean it correctly, you can always line if with a food grade epoxy such as Camcote. It is used in the bee keeping industry and I've used it to re-line jerry cans to make them potable again. It always comes down to collector value, restoration, and personal use.

Re: Question: Trinkwasser 5L Internal Restoration
Thanks I'll check that out too. I've got new seals for the lid (came in the mail yesterday) so it's just a matter of getting it cleaned up WITHOUT damaging it. Sounds like you know all about this though.

Go to the jerry can forum I believe they just had a recent topic on that. I use the efferdent tablet on a lot of containers to clean them and get rid of the stale odors. They are cheap enough and I am pretty sure you can'r over use them.

Thanks.
Last week I did do a vinegar treatment which worked well on its own. I have to find some time to post with pictures.

Question: Trinkwasser 5L Internal Restoration
Time flys....
The 5l water jug turned out well with white vinegar.
I was also able to source a replacement gasket from War’s End Shop if someone else is needing.
I picked up some denture tabs as I’m going to run those through the jug to freshen it up.
