Lloyd White's book

Post by Ron Fitzpatrick » Tue Mar 18, 2014 8:23 am

just when you think you have figured it all out, Lloyd White pulls another hat trick and comes up with a bunch of neat new information
This book is not for the weak or faint of heart, and will make an expert out of anyone that sits down and comprehends all the groovy information, and it is very comprehensive for Vol 1 let alone another 1500+ pages to come.
Do not look for any Ford GPW information in this book BTW :)
Excellent job Lloyd and Crew!
Ron

Hi Ron,

How is the book called and do you have it for sale?

Looks like I'll have to make some room on my shelve :)

Thanks!

The Evolution of the Willys Overland MB Jeep

I think its a Lloyd White direct purchase as far as I know $95.00 included shipping

mbgpw20@aol.com
Lloyd White's email address

It cost me $15.00 for shipping plus the book so I could give you guys a review... get the book at Tower Park or Camp Delta show near Sacramento, CA next month or at the MVPA conventions this summer and save on shipping

Anything Jeep that Lloyd writes about can be counted on as being interesting and accurate.

Lloyd White's book - please be patient on orders

Post by Fred Coldwell » Wed Mar 19, 2014 7:58 am

Hi All:

I just spoke with Lloyd this morning. He is away from his computer for 10 days or so while he in on the road promoting and delivering copies of his book. So it will be awhile before he answers anyone's emails. He appreciates your interest, but please be patient and he will get back to you when he gets back to his computer in 10 days or so. He will then contact you about postage and payment. Thank you!

Here is the Table of Contents to Volume 1:

Image

Volume 1 is 620 pages long and weighs just under 5 pounds. It has many old black and white photographs that are printed beautifully on heavy stock gloss paper. As Ron mentions, this book is a treasure chest of facts about the Willys MB. Lloyd plans to publish 3 more volumes of information and photographs of the Willys MB over the next year-and-a-half.
Happy Jeep Trails,

My email was unanswered, now I know it is due to absence, and I can wait with a little more patience.

Hopefully it can ship and arrive before Easter, it will make great reading over our four day long weekend.

I did the chapter heading drawings for Lloyd a while back, supposed to get my copy sometime within the next couple of weeks, after Lloyd gets back to Oregon (and I need to deliver the drawings for Vol 2). I've seen a lot of the material early in the process, so I already have a decent idea what in it already.
I also know what the subject to be covered in the next volumes will be. I assure you, any Jeep nut will want them all!
Still, I can't wait to see the finished version! :D

I have been reading Chapter 9 "The MB in Canadian Service" by Eric Booth in Lloyd White's Book, Vol. 1 and will say this is a must have for Canadian MB owners.

It has the Canadian government contracts with Willys -Overland with accompanying letters. These contracts state specifically what was ordered and what additional equipment was included.

It also includes the Spare Parts Lists peculiar to the MB built for the Canadian Government.

The section he has on the lighting and modifications with government documentation and photos is amazing.

Army Motors Number 147 has an excellent review of the book, but the online ordering from Peter Ferris has a typographical error... a j instead of a g in the email address.

His correct email address is pgcferris@sbcglobal.net

Oh, I found particularly interesting the letters back and forth from various Canadian Army staff the decision to use standard US Army MB in lieu of the Canadian Model based on the Marine Corps MB... really wild answers to some nagging questions on special models of the MB.
