LIFE - Jeep Scrap Yards

Post by REG » Sun Mar 10, 2013 11:27 am

I've Trawled Carl Mydans photos on Google for the Okinawa Jeep dumps - use the link http://images.google.com/search?q=okina ... Q&tbm=isch

There MAY be lots of repetition in these photos, but as you go through a set of these pics you feel the repetition coming on and might think "Oh, I have seen these before" and suddenly a whole new set appears.

I apologise for the time it takes to load these photos - but they are special

WOW! Lots of Jeep porn. What years were these pictures taken and where are the Jeeps now?

Thats some pile of scrap ....

Love the work you put in old bean to bring this to us all... BIG LOVE

best shot though is the close-up of the jeep door area with the grass growing in it.

REG,
I noticed from the larger version of the pictures that the tires appear to be new, and there are no paint markings(other than a blue drab registration number).

Also some of the sides are buckled inward by the metal banding holding the axles, etc.
I wonder if it was from an over zealous factory worker applying to much torque, or rough handling later?
Maybe some of the bent sides on these trailers were from the factory. :)
Roy
