Meanwhile the price of all available 6.00X16 NDT Brands continues to rise while some hold out for the ultimate tire. By then the lowest cost tires of today will be out of reach for many pocketbooks.

I haven't checked prices lately, but I suspect you are correct. Prices on lots of things have gone up!

Time does not stand still, and the tires always increase in cost.

And how many 6.00X16 Molds does S.T.A have in their possession? I believe they have the Reproduction FORD mold and STA, am I correct?

STA is still using the original WWII period Cast Iron molds for the 6.00 X 16 NDT. It does not get better than that, only the name has been changed.

my Firestones from Universal came today, I don't know about the accuracy of the tread or quality of the tire but at least the sidewall looks good and the price was very reasonable.

Hmm....Did STA go to Russia and purchase the Ford Tire Moulds from them after Ford sent the complete tire-making factory to them?

Not really interested in this discussion again.

STA has some 60+ year old molds that made tires for the motorpool supply with various names on the sidewall.

They were not used to make tires for the Ford or Willys Factory during or after wartime.

My only reason for commenting was to let collectors know that the 6.00X16" Mold used by STA for their STA Branded tires is a WWII Era mold once used to make "Pennsylvania Brand" NDT tires for the military, it is also noted that Chuck has posted a postwar photo of a 6.00 X 16 "Pennsylvania Tire" on back of a Jeep that has a slightly different tread and sidewall pattern. I have no way to explain the difference. I can't add anymore to the details of the present STA 6.00 X 16 NDT.

All I can add is it was likely cast steel or aluminum. Cast iron was not used.

Any update on the potential for accurate Ford tires?
