M14 mounts

Post by Hell On Wheels » Thu Nov 28, 2019 6:26 pm

Does anyone have pictures or know where they mounted M14? Was it across the windshield?

The M14 (and later the M16) were stowed vertically at each side of the vehicle.

But first....you need the appropriate installation kit....if you are using an M14 or replica...then you should obtain the kit with the "round" base.

Here's a picture of how the rifle was stowed......

The M-14. The finest rifle ever made imo. Yeah, I have had one for a wee bit of time. (30 years). Cheerio.

Agree with everything said and posted...no issues (you will have issues if you mount it with a ROPs system and have the light switch moved, etc.)

That said, the top installation photo Ken posted shows the passenger side (battery box lid clamp at bottom, battery cable for Slave receptacle going out the right side) illustration of placing the butt holder in the obvious early floor panel with the removable drain plug, neat but not the issue.... .

What's the pivoting sliding bracket riveted on the edge of the doorway for?

Looks like it might be a door stop/stay, but rather awkward if it were, your boots would be tramping on it  ... I cannot think of one 'kit' it may go to, and a rivet head there...???
Just a really curious observation to me  .

I bought a M1A1 “civilized” a few years back M14 and man it’s a beast I love it. I would like to find a couple of those kits. The ones I’ve seen are m16/m14 with Square butt stock mounts but looking for what Ken pointed out the round butt stock mounts

Spot on, ol' chum. Yes, it's the door stay for the hardtop enclosure :)

Robert.... here's a clearer picture of the oval base. I'm sure a good sheet-metal worker could fabricate something close..... the difficult bit would be to form that lip on the top edge of the buttstock holder.
