Ammo Can Glove Box

Post by 47EOD » Fri Jan 04, 2013 10:16 am

I installed a .50 cal ammo can between the front seats of my 1/4 ton. It was a can we used when I was on active duty with an EOD unit that we used to carry blasting caps. It has a padlock hasp so I figured it would be a great locking "glove box."
After a bit of use I realized that the can was nice but it was impossible to stay organized. So I built this insert with a removable sliding shelf.
The pics do a better job of explaining than I can. The insert was made with 1/4 inch plywood, glue, and brads.

I had a box like that but not with the wood tray. Every time you wanted something it was on the bottom. This box looks good!

That's some really nice woodworking going on there! 8) . In case anyone else's carpentry skills are lacking, Brownells sells the plastic .50 cal ammo can organizers. Here's a link; http://www.brownells.com/shooting-acces ... =100009811" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately, they are currently out of stock :(
