the M249 SAW was not in the inventory when the Mutt was. as far as i know in the 21 years in the service there isn't one. Not that you can't make one. A.E. like we did for the Delta gun trucks at campbell and made the "Eagle Mount" for the saw to mount 45 degrees from the main heavy weapons mount.

Re:
The M249 was accepted in 1980, the developmental model came into inventory in 1981, with line issue in 1983 / FY1984 (Army / AF) and 1984 / FY1985 (USMC). These were the early model, without the heat guard and with the steel stock, but well within the M151A2 service life.KSDUSTOFF34 wrote:the M249 SAW was not in the inventory when the Mutt was. as far as i know

Re: SAW mount for M151
I'm by no means an expert on weapons mounts other than I mounted an M4 ped. mount in my M151A1. For the dash mount, I'm not sure if a WW II vintage M48 dash mount would be compatible with the SAW cradle. Does the SAW use the M142 cradle? If not that, I've seen pictures of HMMWVs with dash mounts containing SAWs maybe you can get one of those mounts?

Re: SAW mount for M151
I will take some pictures and post them. I have the exact model USMC M151A2 FAV in the picture with the same gun set up. THANKS for posting the picture too!!!
Basically its a plate with a M4 pedestal socket welded to it or the detachable 1 foot high mount off a HMMWV ring mount. I will take pictures on Monday when I get to work

Re: SAW mount for M151
Here are the pictures of my USMC M151A2 FAV "late model". I have 2" bar stock in between the frame and the front suspension assy for lift in the front. The M249 SAW is an Airsoft and does not fit the USGI mount quite right (No rear pin inserted)
