mystery car

Post by jesse » Mon Jul 05, 2010 4:04 pm

Can someone identify the car in this picture. There is another one just like it in the background. The bottoms were gone from the cars, but most of the glass was good, as well as most of the fittings. Unfortunately, they were scrapped a few weeks ago. I have a rear window from one, as it must have popped out when they crushed it with the skid-steer. The glass is perfect. Number on glass is AS 4-70. Any one need the glass? Jesse.

Jesse,
Looks like a 41? Hudson. Do a google photo search and see if that lines up.

Every little bit of info helps most of the time. In this case the AS 4 -70 on the glass only means that it is Auto Safety Laminated glass, 4 denotes breaking resistance strength, and 70 denotes thickness of the poly vinyl butyral laminate sheet between the two sheets of glass.

Joel, I have been a Union Glazier for close to 30 years. It is my Career passion. As you know your business, I know Glass. Type Laminated Glass into your search engine, you will find that Wikipedia will educate you to fact that (PVB) was in use in the manufacture of safety windshield glass in 1939. Henry Ford was among the first few to manufacture the glass.
