Packard staff cars

It's well documented that '41/'42 Packards were used as military staff cars. I see a few indications that the 1940 model (free-standing headlights, not mounted in fenders) was also used as staff cars, perhaps pre-war and during-war.

Has anyone seen actual photos of the 1940 model decked out in military OD ?
Were they 6 cylinder 110s or 8 cylinder 120s ?

There were indeed a number of 1941/1942 Packard Clippers and larger models used as staff cars. There were 2652 new Clippers in stock, available to the military during 1943-1944-1945. A number of Clippers were still being turned out as late as 1943 for staff use, too.

As for 1940 models being used as staff cars, the late, great Bart Vanderveen, in his Historic Military Vehicles Directory, states that from 1940 to 1943, the military acquired 487 Packards (presumably of various types) for military use. I have seen pictures of 1940 Packards in British RAF garb. I'll see if I can find them. I don't recall having seen any in OD, but that doesn't mean none were finished that way. It seems that more of the 1940 models of all makes in military service had civilian paint jobs than later models.

I was just given a 42 Packard ambulance that was supposedly military. A friend called and said one of his neighbors has it sitting on his ranch so maybe getting it this week. There is also a 40 Packard Sedan there also I may get

The original colour was green with white bumpers. the main and side grill sections are painted grey [over chrome] .On top of both front guards there are chrome supports for mirrors or flags? posted elsewhere here on the Gee...I found and gave to the National Museum of Atomic Enregy the so called "Oppenheimer Limo" which was a Packard 120 'stretched' limo which carried 12 passengers from Los Alamos back and forth to the first atomic bomb test site on the White Sands Missle Range (Stalion Gate)

Did the Navy use Packard Clipper's ?

I have not seen a staff car in navy colors. However in 53 & 54 both the navy and the air force had ambulances built by henny based on clipper chassis.

Dow Field, had an AF Blue 40's Packard when the base was reactivated in 1950.

Does anyone know if they used Packards for staff cars in 1950?

I own a 1950 Packard 4-door Sedan. It was repainted in the early 2000's but the firewall is original and it is an olive drab color. It looks like a military issue color to me.

Could it originally have been military issue?
