Guys, I lost my garage space 2 years ago. Bought a new big building and am slowly getting that turned into
a major MV overhaul workshop. Will hopefully keep this work going later in the summer or fall.
Thanks

Hi Hinrik,

I hope your new shed space is coming along nicely,

In the first page of photos of 51368, I can see it still has a mirror tube/arm fitter. Could you share images of that please?

I am tying to map some data on them and gather a pattern of what was on what and when, even if you think it’s not a correct arm.

Thanks,
Ian.

Should have tinned all frame areas before painting. But I could fix it up.
Using Eastwoods tinning butter. Great stuff for this job.

Finished the prop shafts. Ended up getting another set of GPW shafts
and redo. Correct NOS F mark (faint) nut lock plates used.

Started to work on the body. Was going to try to save the left side wheel housing, but found
it has too much rust and damage. The more I check, the more rust and damage I find.

There is a special support bracket, where the side panel and quarter panel meet up
on the top inside. Was trying to save the left one, but no luck. Right one fell out.
Any idea where I can buy a repro or anyone have a spare one laying around?

Note the poor positioning from factory, plate in the way of the hole for side curtain
socket hole.

While working on the cowl, getting it ready for sandblasting, I figured I would check
if there was any markings like "TP30" or similar. Used weak strength paint stripper.
I found the "S" from hood number on the side cowl:

Image

That got me thinking about the hood.....some years ago, I tried to lightly sand one side to find the
elusive hoodnumber, but could not see anything, so hood put aside, thankfully with one side untouched.
So I tried same paint stripper method on hood. Thin layer brushed on with a paint brush, then after 30-60
min Iightly scrape off with a plastic scrape

I am happy to say that I found my number! This was just last night. I knew it stared with "S-201"

This morning I could clearly see the whole number. Did not see the first "20"
last night.

So my 51368, left factory with hood number: S-20140679

Was there a photo database on some site with wartime hood numbers?
Remember seen it years ago.
