Nice!!! My June 18, 1942 GPW just turned 80 last month. To celebrate I started some restoration work on it. :D
My original goal, before "life" happened, was to have it restored by its 50th (yeah, in 1992). Retirement has its benefits!

I flew in the B-17 Texas Raiders in 1997 from Dyess AFB (near Abilene) to Love Field, Dallas. The CAR brought the ship to the B-1 base for a Squadron event.
My father was a B-17 pilot in the war, so the flight meant a lot to me.ship
Two classic pieces of WWII technology.

Hi Seth,
my MB is 351501 and the DOD is 7-15-44. As your jeep she has been refurbished and not restored (probably before being sold to veterans). I bought this jeep in 2016 in the US and then I shipped her to Italy. Do you work at JSC? I've been there many times since I was the aerospace writer for the Italian Public radio.... I've another jeep (43 MB). For her 70th birthday in 2013 I took her to Toledo from Italy (roundtrip, of course!). A long drive from Newark. I really nice experience....

I do work at JSC and I've been to Italy for meetings with T-ASI in Turin. On my last trip to T-ASI I got to meet Luca (he lives in Turin) :)

Great! Now I'm retired so I don't think I'll go back to JSC again. If you came to Turin again, let me know. I remember that during one of my visit to JSC I went to College Station to visit the guy who sells a lot of jeep parts (I don't remember the name). Great meeting.... Looking forward to seeing you in Turin have a great day.!
PS: if you send me an email I'll forward you some pics of my jeep.

Hi Seth,

I just saw this post for the first time. Congratulations on your jeeps 80th! Great job preserving it as is. I’m a fan. However my comment is to point out that you (might) possibly own the last WWii jeep to ever be photographed with that B-17. Isn’t that the B-17 involved in that horrible and sad mid air collision in November of 22? Not something to be happy about but historical never the less.

That is the B-17 that was lost in Dallas. Several of the folks on board were at the event where I took that photo.

October 17 at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum annex at Centennial Airport viewtopic.php?f=136&t=332967 are later photo's then mine.
